The Physical Servers (Hypervisors) are loaded with super fast enterprise based SSD driven drives. If you run a Bingo or an Online Poker business at scale, these drives are twice as fast or greater (in terms of raw I/O) than the traditional enterprise spindle driven drives (such as the drives in our SAN). As you can imagine, this makes a significant difference to your business performance.
When a customer builds a VPS server, they are given a choice of the storage type they would like allocated to their account. If your business demands high performance, we would recommend opting for SSD based storage.
Distributed SAN architecutre:
The data in our cloud are stored in a vertical arrangement accross our hardware. This means that any number of items can malfunction and the ship will continue to sail. We appreciate that the potential revenue loss due to hardware failure far outweighs the monetary outlay in equipment, software and processes that can prevent your business from going offline.
Automated Failover:
As a further preventative measure to critical failure, we have a second cloud system (an exact hardware duplicate of our first). If our software detects a problem on cloud 1, without skipping a beat, your business can be moved to cloud 2. But failure is not why we maintain a second cloud, we use it during maintenance and upgrades or when we have to move servers to larger cages etc.
